Day 9

Mom came in to town today. She's looking forward to a relaxing weekend! Why did she come here then?

I made a steak dinner, and Mom ate all hers. A success indeed!

Conall's first week

Conall's a week old today. We neglected to celebrate, because we're bad parents.

Day 6

Conall paid his first visit to the pediatrician. Like most babies I've heard of, he was physically well above average: above the 95th percentile in both length and weight, and at the 90th percentile in head circumference. The good doctor could find nothing wrong with him, but Conall found plenty to complain about in the doctor, not least of which was the Hepatitis B shot. He cried all the way out the door of the office, but the movement of the stoller quietened him, so we took him shopping.

Day 4

Sore head. Frank and I bought a stroller (his and Erica's gift to us), and we returned home. He headed into town for the afternoon and Adrienne called at noon to ask when she might expect me. I said I'd shower and head over, but an hour later she called again and I was asleep. She was more than a little upset...

Day 3

I collected Dad and Frank at the airport, and we headed back to the hospital. Adrienne was well enough (and sick enough of the four walls around her) to take a walk with us to a cafe for lunch. We returned her to the hospital and Frank and I drove Dad to the train for the airport.

In the evening Frank and I went to a Japanese restaurant. As we got back to the house, Claire called and invited us out for a drink. After a couple of beers, her friends bought whiskey, and I foolishly drank what was put in front of me. Frank sipped soda water and eventually bailed. The rest of us went back to an apartment and drank more whiskey, but I departed after one (large) drink.

Day 2

The nurses kept Conall overnight, and brought him to his mother when he needed feeding.

I went home at midnight to email the birth annoucement, and returned at 3 am. I slept until 7 am, then went home and thence onwards to a 10 am meeting.

She-Joe was our first visitor, followed by Damian and Janet.
