First day in Kindergarten
Conall had his ups and downs in the first few minutes of his first day at school, but all was well in the end. They managed to place him next to his best friend from Mother Goose, Ariel.
Ariel's dad told us at the morning social that Ariel calls Conall her boyfriend, and Conall is similarly smitten. Born a week apart, they're the two youngest in the class.
By an amazing serendipity, Ariel's dad runs an "Anderson's Bakery" in the neighborhood. This is the bakery chain that was Adrienne's daily refuge when we were in Tokyo and she was pregnant with Conall. When it was closed one Sunday morning she had a meltdown! She wept through breakfast of soup and a roll at another coffee shop. We still buy our bread at our local Anderson's.

The tree won't go up until next weekend, but Conall has started into the Advent calendar, and is negotiating with his mother to open just two windows today.

Three Years
Here's really the only good photo of Conall at his birthday party. The stats are in: 42 inches (or half way to 7 feet), 41 pounds. He can recite the alphabet, name letters shown at random, spell his own name, all things his dad couldn't do at that age. And he's potty trained!

A month ago Conall would only sit on this horse while it remained stationary. Last week was the first time he sat through a complete ride, and now he has that mustang thoroughly broken in!

At 40 pounds and 40 inches, Conall is much more than half his dad's height, but less than one-fifth his weight.

First Swim
Today Conall attended his first swim lesson. He's been in the ocean (Atlantic and Pacific) several times, but only paddled. Today, after a hesitant start, he took to the water with glee, and jumped in no bother numerous times.
The shower was another matter.
